Idli is a type of savory and spice rice cake, known from the Indian cuisine, but also with roots to Northern Sri Lanka. The Idli cake is mainly served for breakfast, and is made from a batter consisting of fermented black lentils and rice, baked in the small baking forms. The forms are not food safe in the Western parts of the world. The forms are vintage, used and may have cuts and bruises on the edges. They vary in form, shape and size which is part of the Idli form’s charm.
